Here are some troubleshooting steps to take if your bluetooth scanner doesn't scan barcodes.
Need charging?
Check the battery status of the scanner to make sure it doesn't need charging. For the Socket scanner, the battery status shows with a red light if it needs charging. For the Zebra scanner, no light at all could mean it needs charging.
Restart the scanner
Turn the scanner off and on again and check if it connects automatically to the iPad again. You can see the status of the connected Bluetooth devices in the iPad Settings > Bluetooth.
Reconnect the scanner to the iPad
Go to iPad Settings > Bluetooth and look for your barcode scanner in the list. It should be listed as Connected if it is ready for use.
If the scanner is listed as 'Not Connected', tap the scanner to trigger the connection to be established.
If the scanner is still not available, disable the 'Bluetooth' setting and enable it again to refresh the connections.
Forget the device
If the steps above don't help, you can try to 'Forget the device' in the iPad Settings > Bluetooth by selecting the i-icon. A new page will show, where you can choose 'Forget This Device'.
Set the scanner in discoverable mode to allow for it to be found and connected with the iPad again.
