Learn what to do if the port unexpectedly stops working and there is a steady red light illuminated above the retry button. Problems such as misplaced bins in the port or dirty or damaged sensors inside the port can cause the port to suddenly stop.
If the port abruptly stops functioning, Pio Super Users with access to the Customer Console may encounter one of the following errors in the Event Log:
[205] UNEXPECTED_BINSENSOR_STATE_START_UP
[210]-[217] UNEXPECTED_BINSENSOR_STATE_MOVING_TO_BACKPOS_FRONTSENS - ...MIDPOS_BACKSENS
[220] UNEXPEXTED_BINSENSOR_STATE_INIT
[221] UNEXPECTED_BINSENSOR_STATE
Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to resolve the problem:
Press retry button
To initiate troubleshooting for port problems, always begin by pressing the Retry button located above the port to determine if it resolves the issue:
Check emergency stop button
Ensure that the emergency stop button hasn't been activated. If the button is pushed in, release it and proceed to press the power button to restore operation.
Check that the bin is placed correctly inside the port
Port problems are often caused by misplaced bin inside the port. Follow these steps to make sure the bin is placed correctly inside the port:
- For safety, make sure that the red error light above the "Retry" button is lit. The port will not move until the Retry button is pressed, so it is safe to handle the bin while the error light is on.
- Ensure that the bin is properly positioned inside the port, with the entire bin placed in front of the protective shield. You can manually pull the bin towards you until both corners of the bin make contact with the port frame:
- Press "Retry" button to check if the issue is resolved.
Check the outside surface of the bin
Sometimes, there may be objects such as paper or stickers attached to the bin that are sticking out and obstructing the sensors inside the port. Carefully inspect the entire surface of the bin, paying special attention to the back and sides, to remove any potential obstacles that may be causing the issue.
After you've removed the obstacle, align the bin inside the port and press "Retry" button.
Check the port sensors
If the previous solutions do not resolve the port problems, it is possible that the issue lies with the port sensors. Follow the steps below to troubleshoot the sensors:
- For safety, make sure that the red error light above the "Retry" button is lit. The port will not move until the Retry button is pressed, so it is safe to handle the bin while the error light is on.
- Remove the port furniture:
- There are two sensors located inside the port: one in the front and one in the middle. Both sensors are typically positioned on the left side of the port:
- Make sure there are no obstructions that could cover or interfere with the sensors. If you observe any physical damage to the sensors, please contact Pio support. It is important not to attempt to repair the sensor yourself. The port cannot be used until the sensor is repaired.
- Gently clean the sensor using a soft cloth:
- Press "Retry" button to check if the issue is resolved.
