Bin dividers and bin layouts

The easiest way to optimize your inventory storage availability in Pio is by using as small compartments as possible when storing your items.

Pio bins can be split into multiple compartments by using bin dividers. The dividers are made of carton and can easily be put into your bins to create more compartments.

When using bin dividers, you can store multiple SKUs in the same bin.

A bin can be divided into 2, 4 (vertical and horizontal), 8, or 16 compartments.

Choose the smallest compartment possible

For all products that can fit into smaller compartments, you should use the smallest compartment possible. But you have to also consider the picking process when storing in smaller compartments.

The products should not be squeezed into the bin, but be easily accessible for picking.

Weight distribution in bins

Also, keep in mind that when optimizing storage, you should try to evenly distribute weight across the entire bin to max out the bin’s capacity:

Evenly distributed - max. 30 kg
Located on one side - max. 15 kg
Located in one corner - max. 10 kg

Failing to do so may result in triggering the port alarm.

Bin split sizes

2-split: 30 x 40 cm / 11.81 x 15.75 inches
4-split (2x2): 30 x 20 cm / 11.81 x 7.87 inches
4-split (4x1): 15 x 40 cm / 5.91 x 15.75 inches
8-split: 15 x 20 cm / 5.91 x 7.87 inches
16-split: 15 x 10 cm / 5.91 x 3.94 inches
