Pio x Shopify Integration: Batch & expiration date requirements

If you are using the Pio x Shopify integration and need to track inventory in Pio by batch/lot number or expiration date, you can do this by tagging the products with predefined tags in Shopify.

Batch & Expiration tracking in Pio

How it works

Adding the tags listed below to any product in Shopify will automatically update the product settings in Pio. You can apply one or both of the tags to the same product.

  • PIOEXPIRATION - Requires an expiration date when inventory is stored in Pio
  • PIOBATCH - Requires a batch/lot number when inventory is stored in Pio

Tags are case-sensitive and must be entered exactly as shown above.

When the products are updated in Pio, you will always be asked to enter the batch number or expiration date when Storing the SKUs or updating quantities using Search.

Adding the Tags in Shopify

Open Shopify Admin and navigate to Products. Select the product you want to configure and in the Tags field in the right column, add

  • PIOBATCH to enable batch tracking
  • PIOEXPIRATION to enable expiration date tracking
  • Or add both tags if both values should be required
Removing a tag from a product will remove the corresponding requirement in Pio.
