Importing Move lists into Pio using CSV

Importing move lists allows Pio users to predefine inventory transfers between bins, shelves, and external locations. This eliminates manual entry and speeds up operations like:

  • Moving inventory between locations
  • Clearing bins for new inventory
  • Relocating seasonal or slow-moving items
  • Executing bulk requests of SKUs

Follow the instructions below to import Move lists into Pio.

Download the CSV template

Navigate to the Imports section in Pio Admin and select 'Import' next to your Profile icon in the upper right corner. This will open the Import window, where you select 'Move list':

To support the import process, a CSV template file is provided and recommended for all file uploads. Select 'Download CSV template' on the next page.

CSV file requirements

The CSV format requires commas or semicolons to be used as separators, and the maximum number of rows per file is limited to 10.000.

The Move list-file must include the following columns for each row:

  • from
  • to
  • refill
  • sku
  • quantity

Always use the same From and To locations on all rows. If you want to perform multiple move tasks, please add them to separate files.

Each SKU can only be added once per move file.

Columns required for Move imports

Column Description
from* The location to move products from [required]. Choose between GRID or SHELF

Uploading Move files

When the CSV file is ready to be uploaded, drag it into the upload area or select 'Choose file' to locate it and upload it from your PC. Multiple files can be selected and uploaded simultaneously.

The upload process will parse the files and validate the content.

Preview before importing

A preview of the file content is available when the file is uploaded. Select the eye icon to view the uploaded file and check for errors before importing it to Pio.

It is recommended to use the preview to confirm the file has been uploaded and parsed as expected. This is a good opportunity to catch it if adjustments are needed before importing the move list.

Import the CSV file

When the file is uploaded and validated correctly, it is ready to be imported. Select 'Import' to add it to the 'Move' task in the Pio app.

Imported Move lists are available in the Imported tab. Select it to review the content:

Move list overview

When the Move list is imported, the actual moving process must be performed using the Pio app on an iPad.

Select 'Move' from the Pio homescreen to get started. Imported Move-lists will be available by selecting the 'X available moves' next to the search field:

Select one of the available move lists to view the content and start the picking process by selecting the green 'Move' button at the bottom.

Follow the Move process to start moving inventory from one location to another.

Failed uploads

If any errors occur, the file will be highlighted as "Invalid data" or marked with "Upload failed".

For failed uploads, the file is not registered as a CSV file and cannot be imported. Delete the failed file and verify the format and content before uploading it again.

For invalid content of the file, check the errors highlighted and hover over the red cells to see the description of the error:
