Pio as an App location vs Warehouse location
The Pio - Shopify integration connects the Pio app with a location in Shopify. The location in Shopify can be either an app location, using the fulfillment service in Shopify, or a regular warehouse location.
Pio as an app location and fulfillment service
The location added by the Pio app installation in Shopify, is by default an App location. One of the advantages of using an app location in Shopify, is the Fulfillment service feature. When Pio is connected to an app location, the orders in Shopify must send a request to be fulfilled in Pio. When the order is accepted, it isn't possible to make any changes to it without canceling it from Pio.
If a change is required for the order, request a cancellation from Pio to remove it from the picking queue and edit it. When the order is ready, submit it back to the picking queue in Pio.
An app location cannot be used as a default location in Shopify. When having multiple locations or a retail store, using Pio as a warehouse location is more flexible.
Pio as a warehouse location
For Shopify stores with multiple locations, the integration can be set up with Pio as a warehouse location. This requires a new location to be added to Shopify and shared with the Pio Team before installation of the Pio x Shopify integration.
When using Pio as a warehouse location, it is important to be aware that orders synced to Pio are open for editing in Shopify at any time. To avoid the order lines in an order being changed when the order is sent to the picking queue, we recommend always going through the customer requests for order changes before starting picking in the morning. When a change is made to an order, the original order fulfillment will be canceled in Pio, and a new order fulfillment created.
If you need to cancel the order from Pio, change the fulfillment location from Pio to another location in Shopify.
